History

In the past five decades, Colorcraft has evolved in step with Hong Kong’s own transformation — from a pivotal gateway to China to a globally integrated business hub. Throughout each phase of the city’s development, the company has continually adapted to meet fresh challenges and seize new opportunities, allowing it to thrive as a respected presence in both its industry and the wider community.
Colorcraft was established in 1970 after the company’s leaders identified a major gap in Hong Kong’s publishing landscape. Drawing on extensive advertising and publishing experience, they tackled the city’s lack of local trade journals, which had previously been sourced almost entirely from elsewhere in Southeast Asia. This insight positioned Colorcraft as a well-established player in Hong Kong’s publishing industry.

In the early years, Colorcraft’s business was drawn mainly from book publishers. The company has been dedicated to supporting the growth of independent publishers, helping clients develop into thriving global brands.
Recognizing new opportunities in emerging markets, Colorcraft strategically diversified its offerings by expanding into educational materials and building comprehensive expertise in packaging, plastics and assembly-line logistics.
When the advances in technology changed the face of the print industry almost beyond recognition, they demanded that Colorcraft's staff have expertise in today's sophisticated techniques to better advise clients and liaise properly with vendors. The scope of work also changed and diversified from books and educational kits into many different areas as outlined in the Products section.
